DBC Constitution

I. PREAMBLE:

A. We, the members of the Day Bible Chapel of Saranac, do ordain and establish the following articles, to which we voluntarily submit ourselves.

II. NAME:

A. The name of this chapel shall be the "Day Bible Chapel" of Saranac, Michigan.

III. PURPOSE:

A. This corporation is formed as an evangelical non-profit corporation for the following purposes:

1. To preach and teach the Word of God.
2. To provide Christian fellowship.
3. To win individuals to a personal faith in the Lord Jesus Christ.
4. To hold title to property, both personal and real, as the need may arise.
5. To send and support missionaries.
6. To care for the needy and poor.
7. To administer the sacraments, rites, and ceremonies and conduct the worship services of the church.

IV. DOCTRINAL STATEMENT:

A. We stand for and emphasize the foundational truths held in common by evangelical Christians: Our basis of fellowship being a oneness of heart and mind in all things of the Lord, and adherence to the historic Christian faith expressed as follows:

1. We believe the Holy Scriptures of the Old and New Testaments to be the verbally inspired Word of God. They are the final authority for faith and life of every believer (II Tim. 3:16-17;II Peter 1:20-21; John 16:12-13; Mart. 5:18).
2. We believe in the triune God, eternally existing in three persons - Father, Son, and Holy Spirit - Co-eternal in being, having the same attributes and perfection's (Matt. 28:19-20; Acts 5:3-4; II Cor. 13:14; John 1:1-4).
3. We believe in the personality of Satan, called the devil, and his present control over unregenerate mankind, and his eternal punishment in the lake of fire (Isa. 14:12-17; Rev.20: 10; Matt. 4:2-11, 25:41).
4. We believe God created man in His image, but that in Adam's sin the race fell, inherited a sinful nature, and became alienated from God; and that man is totally depraved, and of himself, utterly unable to remedy his lost condition (Gen. 1:26-27; Ro. 3:22-23, 5:12; Eph. 2:1-2).
5. We believe that, owing to this universal depravity and death in sin, no one can enter the Kingdom of God unless born again; and that no degree of reformation, however great; no attainment in morality, however high; no culture, however attractive; no humanitarian and philanthropic schemes and societies, however useful; no baptism or other ordinance, however administered, can help the sinner to take even one step toward heaven; but a new nature imparted from above, a new life implanted by the Holy Ghost through the Word, is absolutely essential to salvation (Eph. 2:8-10; I Pet. 1:18-19; John 3:3,16; John 1:~; Eph. 1:7).
6. We believe that the Lord Jesus Christ, the eternal Son of God, became man, without ceasing to be God, having been conceived by the Holy Spirit, and Born of the Virgin Mary, in order that He might reveal God and redeem sinful men (John 1:1,2; Lk 1:35).
7. We believe that the Lord Jesus Christ, accomplished our redemption through His death on the cross as a representative, vicarious, substitutionary sacrifice; and that our justification is made sure by His literal physical resurrection from the dead (Ro. 3:24,25; I Pet. 2:24; Eph. 1:7;IPet. 1:3-5).
8. We believe in the resurrection of the saved unto everlasting life and blessedness in heaven. We believe the souls of the redeemed are, at death, absent from the body and present with the Lord. We believe the resurrection of the unsaved into the everlasting punishment of hell (Matt. 24:4-6; John 11:25-26; II Cor. 5:8; Rev. 20:5-6,12-13).
9. We believe in the church, the body of Christ, consisting only of those who are born again, for whom He now makes intercession in heaven and for whom He shall come again (Matt. 16:16-18;Eph. 1:20-23; Col. 3:14-15; Acts 2:32).
10. We believe in Christ's commission to the church to go into the entire world and preach the Gospel to every person (Mark 16:16; Acts 1:8; Mart. 28:19-20; II Cor. 5:18-20).
11. We believe that the Holy Spirit, not as an influence, but as a Divine Person, the source and power of all acceptable worship and service, is our Abiding Comforter and Helper, that He never takes His departure from the church, nor from the feeblest of saints, but is ever present to testify of Christ, seeking to occupy us with Him, and not with ourselves, nor with our experience (John 7:38,39, 14:16-17, 16:12,14; Acts 1:8; Ro. 8:9; Phil. 3:3).
12. We do not encourage the visible manifestation or exercise of the charismatic or Pentecostal sign gifts (Ro. 8:9;John7: 38-39, 14:16, 16:13-14).

V. SACRAMENTS:

A. Day Bible Chapel recognizes two ordinances of the church. These are commanded for all believers (I Cor. 11:23; Mart. 28:19-20; Acts 18:18; I Peter 3:21; Acts 19:4-5).
